Another reason was alluded to earlier by another poster: many working girls think, "If there are less clients coming to the strip joint/CR/etc., well then I need to charge the remaining clients MORE to make up for my revenue shortfall. So instead of lowering my price, I am going to raise it."
Don't laugh - many strip club managers are also guilty of this fallacy. I've heard many a Miami and Broward stripper say something like this, especially since the economy started flatlining.
Unfortunately for them, this strategy only works for monopolies.
