I first went to CR in 1998. Does anyone remember when...

there was a craps table in the BM? It was located under the 'upper' section, between the telephones and the banos (the restaurant Cafe Del Rey was in the BM, not across the street).

the Key Largo was DEAD. They only had one bar open, and there was maybe six or seven chicas in the entire place.

the airport bar was facing away from the runway, and had maybe a dozen tables. There was a cafeteria near the bar. The food was great!

the bar at the Morazan was on the first floor, and the sportsbook was on the second floor where the restaurant is now.

the bar across the street (Monkey Bar) from the DR was called Rogers.

Those were the days!

The only thing I really miss out of your list is the restaurant that was on the second floor above what is now the Monkey Bar. You could get a decent steak at a very decent price. These days there is such a vast improvement in the quality and number of girls without a significant increase in price that I can live without that old San Jose. Not meaning to be disrespectful just a different opinion.

Does anyone remember the Taipan Club, where the chicas dressed in cheerleader unifom with pompons in hand? Free drinks and food on Sundays. Too bad the owner Taipan Bob was shot.

Does anyone remember the Green Door, where they had a swimming pool and you could relax in the pool with the chicas before going to the room? Rumors are the place was closed down because of under-age ladies working.

I remember it all. Anyone remember when Happy Days was THE place for action. Or that it took less than 10 minutes to buy your exit tax, check in and make it through security. Oh yes, those were the days.

I never went to the Taipan club but I was a regular at the Green Door.It was $100 per day and for that you received :

all day open bar
full access to swimming pool and jacuzzi and weight room
pool table
a one hour session with the chica of your choice

What a concept !!!

All those places bring back fond memories especially Happy Days and the old airport restaurant which served the best huevos ranchero.

Other old time favorites were the Costa Rican Inn and the Bar, Bella Donna, next door. The old New York Bar, Big Nashville and the Park Hotel.

Anybody remember when some of the best food at a great price was at the restaurant in the Key Largo? When the best place to exchange money was with "Uncle Albert" in the appliance store one block west of the Presidente. When avenida central was a street with cars?

Some great memories of the old days in San Jose.

Yeah, the OLD NY Bar was a pretty hot spot back in the old days. And how could I forget my most favoritest MP Arte Y Sauna. Also, for a short time, the place now called the Monkey Bar was called The All-American Bar. It was always filled with available chicas. These days, I often wonder how they keep the place open.

I remember walking past the Beatle Bar, but can't recall the exact location.

A little pricey, but fantastic concept indeed - much like La Passions in Sosua, though that venue lacks the weight room and pool table, and you don't pre-pay for a session. I would absolutely patronize something like this if anyone ever got it going again...

Old New York bar was on avenida 1 right next to the Morazan. Happy days was on calle 7 also right next to the Morazan. Both leased the location and Big John & Greg bought the properties and threw them out and tore down the buildings. If you have enough money you can control your competition.

I remember Dec. 2001, staying at the Presidente in the old section($45 per night) The News Cafe before the rail and the jack hammer that started at 8 am. It must of took 18 months to build the rail.

The old Bikini Bar (walk out of the Presidente turn left and then right at first intersection. Bikini bar was on left.

The Blanco Bar before the Patio resturant was built.
