I know CR is very hot and humid but just how cold does it get. Is a jacket necessary at night or will some long sleeves shirts be enough to hold out the cold? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

The answer to that depends on what temperature you are use to at home. Someone from Miami might feel it is cool while someone from Boston might feel it is warm.

The temperature is almost constant on the low end. The coolest month is January with an average low of 17.5 (63.5). The warmest are May & July with an average low of 18.4 (65.2). As you can see not a very wide range. If you are going to travel to the volcanoes a light jacket is a must.

Ryu,

Remember that throughout Central & South America climate is dependent on elevation. So while you might be very comfortable in San Jose or Medellin, Col. you could be sweating youe ass off at Jaco or Cartagena.
