This same situation existed in Puerto Rico years ago and the media combined with some women's groups shut down just about all the MPs including the 200 year old MP Black Angus. Hopefully the good people of CR will realize that they DO have a lot more important issues then worrying about what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own room!

First, I doubt VERY seriously that they will shut down all of the P4P places in SJO. They don't give a shit about us (except our money), but the ticos would go crazy if that crap happened. I figure that gringos are supporting AT MOST 10% of the hookers in SJO. The rest are banging ticos for 7K colones.

Second, even if they did, so what? Half the ticas I know in SJO (and a HUGE number in Colombia) have some "friend" that may not be a full timer but needs some extra cash. Even if we couldn't walk 5 minutes to a MP or head to the del rey, there will still be TONS of women willing to sell (or should I say, rent) their ass for a few bucks.

The Black Angus was gifted in the late 70's. What was CR are like back then?

It's just political posturing by some do-gooder. It will blow over. Prosititution has been a time-honored business in Latin American countries for many, many years. I don't think it's going away in the next few months.
And it's still legal there. You notice they really didn't bust any of those MPs for actual prostition, but for picky health code violations, licensing and zoning violations, etc. Or at least that's what I saw on the TV broadcasts and on Nacion.com

Yeah, you know, I got to thinking. I'm sure the municipality is very concerned about the handicapped gringos that come to SJO to buy pu*sy. How could I have been so blind. Once those buildings are up to code, I'm sure there will be no more problems.

I am in your camp. I know a few (well a couple...ok, one) naysayer who cancelled because of the issues that came up. It never even occured to me to cancel my trip as I just enjoy myself too much in CR. In fact, during this whole brouhaha I scheduled another CR trip for October.
