Don't take her anywhere near the gulch. Period. You can stay in a nice hotel near the airport or in the suburbs without having to go within five miles of the action. I also would avoid Jaco and Spirit Airlines (your flight likely would be loaded with horny mongers). Better yet, fly into Liberia and explore that end of the country with her. There are lots of places in CR for the wifey to see and enjoy without any evidence of what CR *really* has to offer. If you take her to the Presidente I am very confident that one of two things will happen: (1) your trips to CR will be over; or (2) your trips to CR will continue but your marriage will be over.

I agree with the others do not even think of taking her anywhere near the gulch. Like another poster said, sounds like she might be onto you.

I like the no frills option, be an extreme cheap ass but act like it's luxury and "mixing" with the locals (cultural experiance). LOL A typical gringa will be all too ready to leave. Most importantly have fun with it, she's at your mercy when going down there.

Also, find out if she has been checking credit card bills to find out where you have been staying. Back track as much as possible to figure out what she might know. If you have been staying at the Presidente, then do a search for another Presidente hotel and stay at that one (how many Del Rays are in Costa Rica - at least 20 for example). Costa Rica is a small country compared to the US. She'll never know the difference if you take her to another area.

Complex,

Checking back credit card statements, you are well experienced and on top of it my man. I once knew a guy who got busted by his wife b/c of makeup on his shirt collar near the back of his neck(he never bothered to look) and stripper glitter on his arms.

So avoid Spirit Airlines when going to Costa Rica with a wife or significant other? It might be hard to explain the number of single male travelers. She may think that there is a fraternity in San Jose.

Spirit Airlines is the "Official" airline of mongers going to Costa Rica!

UDO,

I always thought the same about Spirit. Have you ever seen their routes. Many Central American locales off the radar. Plus, they always have these slogans, MILF Mondays, "WTF" sale, and there were some other gems.

You guys are right about Sprit Airlines! Very funny! On their home web page they have a picture of a ladies ass standing in the ocean with the headline "We believe in offshore drilling"! LOL True there is an oil rig in the distance but the implication is quite obvious.

guys use that to keep wifes away from deer hunting/fishing camps around me. First time with nature calls and no flush toliet its time to go home. I sure you can find some around the coast some where to stay at , or at least some place with a shared toliet, same goes for resturants, just stop at those really nice "places' that clean the restroom the same day every year, no matter if its clean or not>

In addition to the previous viable suggestions, consider Adventure Inn along with others in the Caliari area near the Airport or Don Carlos and others in the Barrio Amon area replete with off the beaten path tours.

You may consider sending her on her way for a 3 day 2 night quest to Limon and Caribbean sector while you perform you magic negocio in SJO while she is off enjoying herself  .

Happy trails, and repeat after me: It's just like taking a sandwiche to a banquete or sand to the beach.

Fortunately, my question is probably now for naught. The wife and I went out to eat last night. She wanted to have a serious discussion. I decided to try to let her do all the talking, which was a good idea. Summary: she knows I'm no longer in love with her and we're going to do an amicable separation. (Of course, in the back of my mind I'm thinking the amicability won't necessarily last!) Then, this morning, after crying last night, she acted perfectly normal and wished me a good day when I left for work. Go figure! I arrive in SJO this Sunday, by myself - happy times!

I believe in the legal trade, that is often referred to as a "wet receipt".

While I sincerely hope it is amicable, my recommendation from past experiences is protect your assets. Move all the money out of joint accounts.

Be prepared for finding the locks changed when you get back. She will claim you abandoned the marriage and have court orders in place keeping you at a 1000 foot distance.

Now is the time to meet with a lawyer and strike first. You file for divorce, You change the locks on her, You get restraining orders out on her, You call 911 and claim she beat you, You file a warrant on her for Criminal Domestic Violence.

If you are in a no fault state, all bets are off. In any case you can pretty much bend over, place your head between you knees and kiss your assets adios.

I wish you well.

I stroke her as much as possible, and then I would recommend that you ask her to do a mediation, instead of lawyers. My divorce cost $3,500.00 using a mediator.

Should she balk at that, she may already be setting herself up. Find yourself the most ruthless female divorce attorney that you can find.

Again, if you live in a community property state, mediation will save you thousands of dollars.

Good luck with the mental aspect of what is challenging you ahead.

Health & happiness....

I am not familiar with the procedure in California Santas Bro. In Florida mediation is non binding and can be rejected by either party. That little hook cost me a lot of money.
