The 1964 half dollar is 90 percent silver and the 1965-1970 is 40 percent silver. El cuarenta por ciento. Both are valued.

I got thru Mexican immigration and customs in one minute giving out silver Kennedy 50 cent coins as tips.

Seems to make sense. I do have a few of these Kennedy coins that I have had since they originally came out. Are they still readily available at banks?

The worst thing about your suggestion is the idea of carrying them around in my pocket......I hate to even carry around those CR 500 colone coins.

In the theme of this same idea of yours.....several years ago I took some U.S. $2 bills to CR for use as tips. It was funny to see the reaction from the people........some would just stare at the bill wondering what it was, others.....you would have thought I had handed them a $100 bill. In the end, I realized it was impractical for various reasons.

Once a chica asked me if I had any $2 bills on me......unfortunately, this was after I stopped bringing them.
