Steve,
I don't believe La Diablo was questioning your integrity. He was merely offering his opinion on why some people may not trust fundraising campaigns such as this. It wasn't about you personally, but more about this type of campaign.

But I feel a whole lot better being involved in something like this where almost the whole 100% will go directly to the orphanage, rather than giving to a place like Salvation Army where something like 15% actually goes to the needy and the 85% cover "administrative costs".

I can tell you there will be no administrative costs here.

I agree , Orange. 97% isn't bad at all. Plus anything brought to CR or purchased there can be delivered and 100% of it goes to the Orphanage.

This whole thing is black and white, and it's for a great cause. Steve is doing a thankless job, and he has my utmost trust and respect. Thanks for everything Santas Bro. We're with you!

I know he's trying to help but to me some of Crookedcr's comments on this topic are somewhat abrasive and hostile, turn people off and they'll ignore it forever. A little tact would go a lot further than pushing guilt and telling those not interested to F- off. Like maybe simply making members aware of it or just let the 5 members in charge handle and promote it. IMO 700.00 donated in only a week (now 1000+) is nothing for him to be complaining about anyway.
Sorry if I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong, it's a great thing you guys are doing but like granny said you get more flies with sugar than vinegar!

Ok, yeah, you are probably right. I guess I was feeding off Santa's Bro's frustration for the situation with Johanna, and maybe I felt that that as someone on the outside of the effort my own comments would represent my own opinion on the matter and not reflect so much on the effort of the whole....and maybe showing that sort of support would at least spur the discussion.

I guess I stand corrected. If I offened anyone, I'll buy you a drink if we cross paths in CR.

I extend my sincere apology to the board.

Humbly -

CCR

CRT Brothers:

For my part in this most recent discussion, I am sorry. I have spoken personally with LaDiablo, and have assured him that I am not angry at him, nor anyone else, for any reason.

His post was not the first time that I read that others may not donate because they can't be sure that their money will not end up in my pocket. I now realize that there is nothing that I can do about that, and just wanted to give my voice to that issue, strongly, for the last time. No one needs a reason not to donate. It is my desire to help the K*ds, and I do not expect it to be yours, although I am very grateful for those who have given. If anyone can think of a better way to collect the donations where the CRT membership would still retain control for the disbursement, I'm up for listening.

I agree with Paco that the $1,077.94 collected so far is wonderful. It is already more than we raised last year.

As a side note, would the person that sent me the check in the mail please PM me. I cannot find your handle, and would like to thank you directly, I did receive it. If I don't hear from you, I will send a note by snail mail. :D

Hopefully all, including me, will get out of our heads, and into our hearts about the topic donating to the Ch*ldren.

Health & happiness to all:

Steve - Santas Bro

I don't have any worry about Santas Bro or any other board members integrity. However, as this grows and the dollar amounts become more substantial; I do have a ton of concern after the money gets into the hands of Ticos. I will expect to see overcharges and Gringo prices. After all, the condition of that orphanage before our involvement was just fine in their eyes. I hope you are taking that into consideration.

It has been accounted for. One of our members who is a contractor will go by and give an assessment of the conditions when he is in town this month, prior to authorization of the work. He will come up with an approximate cost for what he saw. Hopefully we will have a member/contractor in town upon completion prior to disbursement of funds to ascertain that the work was satisfactory completed. If any of you are contractors with TI experience and would like to help, please PM me. No money will be disbursed without a CRT member (contractor with TI experience), and expertise in that field, agreeing that the Tico tradesman has performed his function per agreement, and at the stated cost.

One thing I do not agree with;" that they thought the condtion fine before our involvement". They did not think it was good by any means. Bare electrical wires sticking out of a wall where Ch*ldren must be is unacceptable anywhere. They just did not have the funds to do anything about it. We can make that happen.

Thanks for raising the issue. Anything else that anyone can think of, about this issue or any others, please let me know. It is important that our money is spent giving the K*ds the most bang for the buck.

Steve - Santas Bro

I wasn't referring to the people that run the orphanage. I was referring to Costa Rican society and their leadership in general. I know what the orphanage is like. When I first met my GF, she took her K*ds to daycare there because it was all she could afford.

Steve, I have a confession to make.

I used my air miles card.

Thanks for what you have done. You get what you give.

Take care and God Bless you.

Can we hang a banner out front, for when the immagration officers say bussiness or pleasure. We can show them the picture of CRT doing good.

Who the Phuck cares about these little abandoned bastards. I'm serious.

The C.R. culture blows. The dads all seem to split the minute the bebe utters her first yell. The k*ds will mostly grow up to be street thieves, muggers, gangsters and beggars. So seriously, who the Phuck gives a Phuck?

Well for one.... I do. :) I believe we can all make a difference. Check it out: 1500 V.I.P. members each give $20.00.... that's uh... $30K? Enough to fix up everything that needs fixing in the huerfanato, plus maybe provide secondary school scholarships for most of the chi*dren. Think about it. Seriously. What's twenty bucks?

Thanks to the mysterious, unnamed five guys...although I have a pretty good idea who they are... for taking this particular bull by the horns. It's a great idea, a great service to our friends in C.R., and just the right thing to do.

And yeah... I donated. I wish it could have been more, but as soon as I pass "Go" and collect $200.00, I'm gonna donate again. :!:

Thanks Irish Drifter! :) I must have missed it. To anyone who doesn't know these five gentlemen, I can assure you that all are good guys and trustworthy. :)

Pony up a few bucks, boys. It's very easy with the PayPal donations link...it won't take more than two minutes of your time to do it. :D

I support this mission.

It's surprising how some are having a problem with this request compared to chicas asking for cien.

Sad state of affairs.
