Dear Sir:

I don't care about the results of the poll. I am happy to give to this ambition. It is a good way for me to morally balance the general selfishness of my trips to CR.

I would also love to know these K*ds are better off.

Who cares if only 20% (or whatever) of the CRT membership is behind this. Let's take what that 20% will give. We don't need a majority to keep this going, we just need people who give a Phuck.

Steve, maybe admin 1 would be willing to set up yet another forum to handle this sort of thing. There could be a sticky with a link to a paypal donation. CRT members could kick around ideas, they could post what items are needed at the orphanage, etc.

Like any fraternal organization (Knights of Columbus, Lion Club, Masons, etc.) there is always a branch of the effort to help those less fortunate.

CRT is 13,000 strong. Let's get behind Steve, huh? He is the first CRT member who is trying to get others to make a difference.

A little bit goes a long way.

Steve,

I'm in. :D And good for you...attaboy! :D

Call me sometime this weekend if you have time. I have an idea or two to discuss that isn't really amenable to PM exchanges. :)

Paul

After a few bloody marys I hached this idea.

It may be a good thing to channel the donations thru a hotel, such as the SL. If the cash was donated by a hotel or MP, then those gifts turn out to be a good PR thing, and can be used as a kind of "currency" when certain wheels need greasing.
There will be times in the years to come when SJ reduces the numbers of monger hotels or MPs for political reasons. Donations to charity carry a lot of weight when the decisions to allow one to conrinue in business are made by polititions. An orphanage may have a lot of pull in these situations.

Donations can be given directly to a hotel of choice, then dispersed weekly to the orphanage(s).

Of course this would depend on the hotels to properly distribute the cash.

If some donations come from the CRT website, they could be "laundered" thru a hotel so that hotel or MP gets the "credits"

Time for a cigar. :D

Lostone,

I disagree with your idea.

First of all, I don't think Santa's Bro even thought of this as a public relations gambit. I believe his intentions are pure and good.

Secondly, if the local politicos gave a rat's ass about orphans, this one wouldn't have holes in the walls and broken, dilapidated furniture.

If CRT's members get a good rep in the community, fine. But the main idea of all this effort I believe is to serve one's fellow man and to do good work. IMHO, there is no better work in life than providing for Ch*ldren who need the help.
