My day started with a friend calling me to tell me that a poker player I have played with several times (Skip) was killed in a car crash last week in Biloxi Miss. I didn't know him too well but it was sad since he seemed like a nice guy.

Yesterday afternoon came a bigger whack. As I was having a beer alone at the bar in the BM, A chica that I once did a threesome with 6 years ago with asks me if I heard about Penelope. Penelope was my first close chica 7 years ago here in CR,and the one that did the threesome with us. She now drops the bomb that Penelope is dead. After the shock set in,I put my finger up to my nose and got the response from her that I expected. "Coke" she had a problem even back when I was seeing her.It was the main reason I cut off seeing her. I think some others on here were familiar with her.

That's too bad.

A few years ago I got the news that a girl I dated for a short time in college died from diabetes a few years later. I wasn't attached to her or anything, but getting that sort of news about a girl from the past really can rattle a person.

My condolances.

Sorry for your bad news, Bob. :(

It's funny how some deaths hit a person.

It makes me want to immerse myself more fully in life everytime I hear about death.

Sorry to hear about Penelope; she would have been a very OK chica if she could have just left the "stuf" alone. Saw her very strung out many times, and even warned her a couple of times it would do her in.

I hear ya on that one. The problem is the good life comes at a price, and the way people drop like flies I got a feeling I might immerse myself a bit to deep and then it will be me...haha. Oh well, Id rather die from to much of a good time than others I can think of!

VB...terribly sorry to hear about your friends, it's always a sad reality when friends pass, especially when they're so young. First few rounds are on me in two weeks.

YO Bob:

That is indeed very sad news. I first met Penelope when you began seeing her. You and her had breakfast and dinner with me several times at the Colonial. A year or so afterwards I would run into her now and then on Avenue Central or one of the hotels and chat. She was a fun person to be around...always smiling and friendly.

I remember her saying she intended on going to medical school but I took that with a grain of salt. And yes, she did have a problem with coke back then. Seems like it has been around 3 years since I last saw her.

Geezzz, it's been 7 years since she came into our worlds and it only seems like a couple. Time is racing by.

Rest in peace Penelope.

"No money...No honey"

That was the phrase that endeared me to Penelope many years ago. She was a great girl with a dynamite personality and I am truly saddened to hear of her death.

i hate cocaine, meth and anything else that goes up your nose. it destroys the humanity of people and sucks all that is good and sincere out of their brain. my condolences. i have lost friends to this and there is hardly anything more heartbreaking.
