Bless you Santa (s) bro. If it is not too late, possibly we could find a trusted business (like SL) where some of us statesbound could send some $ to help your effort. Figure a way and I am in.

Thanks Gringo Malo for the reply.

I will see if there is a way that you can send something to the SL. If not, just know that your feelings of wanting to help, mean much to me and the K*ds. Maybe WU when I get into town. I know that there is a fee, but for $10.00 or so, it can't be much. Every dollar counts as another chance to make a Ch*ld's day brighter. I'm not sure how it works. Maybe someone that sends an RFM could explain it. Please be assured that any money sent will be added to the cause, I want nothing for myself. As Reman69 wrote, I would like to also do something for an orphanage in SJ. Those poor K*ds, who have been tossed aside in life, could also use a lift.

An update on some items:

I PM'd Admin1 and he most graciously has allowed me to do this under the CRT name. My name will not be involved, but it will be a collective gift from all of us.

A couple of the brothers have stepped up and offered translation services at the toy store and at the hospital. I have Pm'd with thanks, and would like to post their names, but haven't talked to them about putting their names out.

Another CRT brother has offered to translate written words for us. I want to also put together some kind of letter to the hospital, and the K*ds, about why we care. Any input is greatly appreciated, since it will be coming from the group, and not me. With the eloquence of some of you, I'm sure that you can come up with something better than this fat, old fart from Compton. Can you help?

Vanessa, at the SL, has been very helpful and I know more about what the hospital will accept. No war toys, no small items they may swallow, no sharp items, and not wrapped. They can be delivered with an appointment on the day of delivery. I'm not sure if we would get to see the K*ds, but that really doesn't matter. If anyone would like to go, let me know.

I am probably forgetting something that should happen. Your input into this is greatly desired. I want this to be from all of us, I have a great fear in my not screwing it up, especially since it is in the CRT name. I am in awe of the responses from you good men, bless you.

I hope that my postings are not too much of a pain in the a**, but I have a real passion about this.

Happy Holidays..

Steve - Santas Bro

Hey Santas, I just now saw this post or I would have responded sooner. I wil be glad to go with you and help in any way I can. I am familiar with many of the toy stores here. Hate to admit it, but I have spent a small fortune on toys for my girl friends K*ds. I found out from someone else that the only Xmas the 4 have ever had was 1 or 2 toys from the church. This year they will have a big Xmas. I only wish I could do the same for a lot of the K*ds here.

Maybe next year WE (CRT) could start earlier and do something for a lot of the K*ds here. (especially those in the hospital).

And thou toys are cheaper in the states, it is a problem bring them here. And there are places here to buy them for only a little more than in the states. Exception is electronic toys--very expensive here.

BangBang57 thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that. Hopefully many will accompany me to the hospital.

With the late start I am getting this year, I am pretty focused on what can be done this year. The support so far has been exceptional. My heart is filled with pride at the goodness of the men on this board. I believe that random acts of kindness like this will reflect well on the CRT name. I have always believed that we are more than just mongers who don't care. You men are proving my belief right.

I would like to start much earlier next year, and possibly have something in place for Christmas for the K*ds. Not only in the hospital, but at an orphanage also, if possible. I cannot imagine as a Ch*ld not having presents on Christmas. Having brothers like yourself, that actually live there will be a great help in many ways. I'll be in touch later.

Thank you all so much for making it easier to ask for what I need. It is something that I am not very good at.

Happy holidays...

Santos,

I'm making my first trip from 12/30 to 1/13. I'd like to help buy toys and accompany you to the hospital. Let me know how I can help.

I'm really stretching myself on this one, I have much fear in putting out this post. My fear is about those who may think that I would rip them, or the K*ds, off. My fear of looking less than, is being overridden by my desire to help K*ds.

Thank you for your kind offers. I have not received word from the SL about donations being left there so, if there are others who wish to donate:

Anyone wanting to donate please PM me and I will give you my home address. I guarantee that all money sent, and more will be applied directly to gifts for Ch*ldren. It doesn't matter what amount you care to make, if any. Your donation will make a big difference to one more Ch*ld. For those of you who cannot, or choose not to make a donation, please keep a good thought for the K*ds in your heart, that will also make a difference. If anyone chooses to donate, I would like to recognize you publically on this thread. If you choose for that not to happen, please let me know.

I am willing to submit receipts, or whatever will ensure that all know I am receiving nothing monetary from this request. I also have no energy should no one choose to donate, I understand it is my passion.

Whatever happens, this will be from CRT, not me. Thanks to Admin1 for allowing me to use the CRT name. You men have given me a great three trips, a year-and-a-half of reading about you, and many laughs. Hopefully this is a small way I can offer this, as my return to all that all of you have given me.

If you are in town between Dec. 29th and Jan. 3rd-Jan.4th (probable dates of the giving) and wish to donate a gift, or money, I'll be at the SL. Even if you choose not to donate, and wish to go with me to the hospital, please come along. It would be nice to see a group of us CRT'ers in the lobby.

Happy holidays to all...

Just for your info, there is a huge orphanage that is very close to SL. It looks like a huge dungeon and I pity the ones that call it home. I am sure that Bill at SL could tell you where. Although your plan to distribute to the K*ds at the hospital is an excellant one, the orphans (and there are lots of them) are truely the forgotten ones. Even then smallest gift will be received with great gratitude.

I think I have heard of this orphanage near the Sportsmens Lodge that you mentioned. Sometimes when I am staying at the Castillo, there is a gringo from Florida who goes there and does volunteer work; painting, etc. Would be curious to know where it is.

Actually, a great place to get toys is a place called Elizebeth Importado in Belen near the airport. VERY cheap stuff. Not necessarily the best quality, as much of it is knock-offs, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. Friends of mine just spent about $40 per Ch*ld there for 60 K*ds and got a ton of stuff for each K*D, including clothes.

As an update, with the generous gifts of three other members, we are now up to $500-$600.

Since I have only been to CR three times, and consider myself a virtual newbie, if anyone has an idea what the K*ds would like please feel free to PM me, or list it on this thread.

As for the orphanage, it would seem to be better for one gift that all could use. My thought would be a ping pong table, but the cost would be prohibitive I think. Anyone else have a though, maybe a carom board? If you live in CR, and can find out from the orphanage what might be a good choice, please let me know.

Eleven days or so...............

Happy holidays

Walking along Ave Central about 2 weeks ago, I saw a cool foosball table with soccer players in a store window (I think it was in the bookstore next door to where Hotel Gran Via used to be). I have no idea what the price would be, I didn't go in, but it can't be too expensive.

Steve

I was at Wal-mart yesterday and came across these multi game tables, was wondering if you could find it at Hypermas or somewhere similar, maybe some of the vets living in the area can chime in and help on this.
