Last trip I arrived on Novemeber 9th and since I only had my carryon I hauled a$$ through immigration, (tax stamp booth was closed btw) I got to where they xray the bags, I was completely alone, threw my bag on the belt and waited at the other end.. There were 3 guys there and none of them even glanced at the screen as my bag went through...they were in the middle of a good joke I guess...

having traveled for many years and entered and departed several different countries I find that 99% of who gets searched is due to profiling.
If your younger looking, dressed poorly or shabby, carrying a backpack or been out of the country for more than 30 days your chances of being searched increase greatly. Also if someone acts nerveous or keeps looking around they will be singled out.
In Mexico at some airports, there is a random "pass/don't pass" light button you push to see if your bags will be searched or not.
For most of us the chance of being singled out for a special search is almost nil.
