I'm taking a little solo dirt bike ride around CR for the week of Nov 17 thru 24. I may not have done the best search on your forum, but are ticas known to be present in other towns than SJ? I might need to take a break and wash my gear.

If so ....... suggestions.....precautions etc.

The only town, besides SJ, that you can find consistent working girls is Jaco. There are a couple of problems with it though. The weather can be unbearable, it's hot and VERY humid. Then comes the fact that there is almost nothing available during the day. You have to look for it and may/may not find anything. The Beatle Bar is a nighttime place. There are dozens of chicas nightly, all shapes and sizes. Price starts at cien. And then the fact that the beach is ugly, the water dirty, and a recent increase in crime. From reading recent reports, drugs (and everything associated with it) seem to be a major problem in Jaco.

Do a search for Jaco and you'll get some threads that talk about it more in depth.

is the beach(es) really that bad? anyone been there recently? surely you go 10 mins out of the dirty beach area and you can find quiet clean beaches?

Never cared to look. If you want a nice beach, go to Manuel Antonio, a little further south.

The beach in Jaco is really not that bad. I was there in August and it looked okay to me. I did not find such a drug element either.

If you really want a great beach with working girls, go to Tamarindo on the North Pacific side. It's a big surfing town with plenty of young Americans looking to smoke and drink. Great beaches and dry and hot December through May with no humidity. I took some photos and people thought that my photos came off of postcards.

Tamarindo does not have as many working girls as Jaco. However, there is dependable action most nights at the small casino across from the Hotel Diria. Then you have late night working girls in the "Tamarindo Circle" at the Mambo Bar and the Babylon Bar behind the Mambo Bar. These bars do not open until after 9PM. However, there have always been working girls here. You will be able to get laid here!

I have a friend that got dysentary from the ocean in Jaco, beach is nice, water not. You can find girls at night all over, Quepos, Tamarindo, etc.

Great info guys thanks. I booked through 10 nights at the Amistad but maybe they will let me skip a night and run out to the coast one night. Or the worst that could happen is I pay two hotel bills one night I suppose. Kinda rough to run out and back in one day just to be in a hotel in SJ. Trying to fit in a combo of sightseeing and girlchasing (like everywhere else I go!)
