A story about "Mi cielo" (my sky).

One day after my wife from Cali and I divorced we were having lunch (yes, we're still good friends). I asked her what the term "Mi cielo" meant.

She busted out laughing and said, "You've been chatting with a woman from Bogota, haven't you?". Yep, she had me there.

She said in Colombia it is more of an older term and somewhat "redneck" and regional.

That may be in Colombia, but in Mexico, and CR it seems to be alive and well...

Although I must admit to not having heard it for several years before I started hearing it again recently...

cielito lindo literally means little pretty sky. the phrase was immortalized in Mexico by a popular Mexican mariachi song. mi cielo of course a common spanish "pet name". a colombiana zorra may find it old-fashioned tho

And here I thought we were just friends...

Seriously, this girl is a longtime favorita, but I'm pretty sure her attraction to me doesn't go beyond the bit of financial support I periodically provide her...

Yo GR-

Also know that this is a very common term of endearment not exclussively used in a romantic sense. Often mothers will say that to thier Ch*ldren or Aunts will say it to nephews and so on..

Regardless she feels comfortable enough to use it with you, so you must be doing something right.
