I can definitely see more hotels restricting "guests", especially as eco-tourists become the dominant customers for those hotels. Places like Sportsman's Lodge and the Del Ray will still cater to mongers, but considering how many eco-tourists are flooding places like the Castillo, I am beginning to worry.

The massage parlors will stay open because they don't draw attention to themselves. Also, the majority of MPs and sex workers in Costa Rica cater to ticos, not gringos and are in places that tourists just don't go. Thankfully, there isn't a big streetwalker scene for tourists here. non-mongers don't want to see a bunch of hookers lining the streets. The hotels are where we are going to have our biggest problems.

I have the solution. I don't know why I have to come up with all the workable ideas. Geeez. Here it is... marry a hooker. With your own personal hooker in the house you'll never have to go roaming again! Damn... that was easy.

Berk.....

I don't think I would expect that much to change. You would think they would try to get a handle on real crime before they worry about this. Prostitution is driven buy economics & peoples laziness. I don't see this changing in Latin America. The only way they will stop prostitution is the Chicas have to be too Lazy to screw you. That would take their men providing them with a belly full of food & a pocket full of gold  .

I've been trying to say this for years.. Jaco is a different place. I've said before to leave the hookers before the sun comes up. Don't take them hand in hand to breakfast. It's business... Even the places I frequent, I'm tired of seeing the loud crowd with their tacky chicas invading our spots and showing their asses. The visibilty has brought things to a head and I do expect changes....

TW this is the way I see it also. Too me men that want the TLN & breakfast in the morning are showing their true loneliness trying to make a normal situation out of something abnormal. This is dangerous to themselves which only serves to open the door & give the Chicas a window into their vulnerability to be used.

I have a middle aged female acquatance. She and her female friend took an ecotourist trip to SJO. The landed at Jaun Santa... and began their trech. they were like on a safari through the mountains by way of the rain forrest.

Hiked nature trails replete with poisonous snakes marked by their guide. Salt water crocks and monkeys that stole their stuff on the unprotected beach blanket. Did the canopy tour at 90+ feet above the forest floor.

On the return trip their 4x4 got stuck, the driver called his partner to winch him out. They missed their flight due to the delay.

So bottom line, they had one heck of an experience that cost them life threatening risks, bug bites, extreme ecotourism, and got the supreme runs from foul food and water.

Meanwhile, back in the gulch, I have a comfortable secure bed with fine dining and great poosey not to mention whiskey for my men and beer for my horses. Oh yeah, I loved my eco tour to CR.

You make da call :P

In my opinion Jaco will never have an mp. There have been rumors of hotels that keep girls there and underground mp's and the locals have always rooted them out. Business wise, even people who don't have a problem with prostitution, don't want it around for the business implications. A lot of the town is tired of the reputation where the name is always associated with prostitution and drugs.
