Moving into a new pad and trying to decide on internet providers. I currently have ICE DSL 512Mb service for $25 per month. I'd give it a C rating. Sometimes during the business day, it comes to a crawl. I also get a LOT of Page Cannot Be Displayed messages. This tells me that their Domain Controllers might be out of synch or that they are experiencing brown-outs in service. I also would be interested in learning pricing options for different services and even different carriers, if there are any. A good, consistent and fast connection is a requirement for me as I work over the internet.

The only internet provider in Costa Rica, unless you invest in a satellite system, is RACSA. AMNET, Cable Tica, ICE, etc provide the service that eventually connects to RACSA.

My service 3mb is by AMNET cable modem. I get a bill from AMNET for $35.00 and a bill from RACSA for an additional $35.00 each month.

The RACSA bill for my service is "ONLY" c9200 ($18 per month), and the Amnet bill, including cable and internet, is c22,900 ($44). And the cable includes the preminum chanels (HBO, etc,)

NO, IT IS NOT CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! for a country where the average income is less than $400 a month. Now you know why there are soooo many internet cafes

Other cost here: my in house phone--ussually $6-7 per month--great deal :P
electrical--$35-45 per month--but then I am single and live alone most of the time, no air conditioning, no heat.

cell phone-- don't ask   :x for 2 phones, the Aug bill (and I was in the states for 3 weeks)--$160--NO MAS CELL PHONES :x :? :(

Amnet/Racsa have different rate structures depending on the speed of the internet connection you choose. The basic service is $35.00 split between the two. The fastest service they offer is $70.00 split between them but each render a separate bill for their portion.
