Does anybody know how long it takes to install one once ordered?

It's not for me. My novia wants a landline because her cell signal is bad in her new place.
(No, I didn't buy a house for her. )

Is there somebody you can bribe to expedite matters? She's paying for it, but I'm willing to throw in a few bucks in to speed up the process, if possible.

Gracias

I applied for one last year Jan. and I'm still waiting for it. It does depend in which area you leave also I leave in Alajueleta. I have contact ICE like 10 times about the matter and I'm still waiting.

Totally dependent on the area you live in. As short as 5 to 10 days and as long as 5 to 10 years. Bribes do not help.

If she has a GSM cell phone it might be easier and quicker to get another phone cell phone this one a TDMA line. The reception varies by area. If her phone is already TDMA this solution will not work as there are no GSM lines available.

Then if getting a land line takes to long she might want to get a TDMA phone. They are relatively inexpensive and only require a 12,500 colones deposit with ICE. With minimal use (60 minutes a month) the cost is 3640 per month for service.

TDMA works better than GSM in some areas and then the opposite is true in other areas.
