CIRCUS CARDBOARD INNS WINS AWARD

It was announced today by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias on Telemundo that Circus Cardboard Inns (CCI) is this year’s winner of Costa Rica’s prestigious Green Americas (GA) Award. This is presented annually to the enterprise in Costa Rica that best demonstrates policies and practices promoting the “Greening of the Americas”. A somewhat dazed and bewildered Arias made the announcement surrounded by the Ministers of Tourism, Transportation, and Trade. Trafficking was missing. The photographs from CRT of the Park Suite were projected in the background.

CCI, it was reported, won the GA primarily for its biodegradable housing concepts. Virtually every element of Circus’ cardboard housing empire can easily go back to where it came from. CCI edged out companies promoting such ideas as the recycling of all typical Costa Rican food for export and capturing bus and motorcycle fumes for aerosol household air freshener.

The CCI Cardboard of Directors will accept the award at a lavish State Buffet Dinner in September. The buffet will include gallo pinto, fresh cold milk, Costa Rican prime beef tenderloin, Popov vodka miniatures, ice cream topped with fruit cocktail, and lots of napkins. Following dinner, the distinguished guest speaker will be none other than Admin 1 from CRT whose 2-minute speech is titled “Circus, the Man, his Life, his Accomplishments, the Legend, and his Contributions to CRT and Humanity through the ages”.

Of course, Circus, the CEO and Jefe of CCI, could not be reached for comment, but no matter, he is usually a man of few words or commentary anyway. It is rumored he is traveling to the few countries that still allow him entry scouting new properties with his companion and advisor Shittass, the cat.

I would like to extend my congratulations to our esteemed member, and GA Award recipient, Circus. I know that Circus has spent countless hours with this endeavour, and this recognition is well deserved, and a long time coming. I'm sure that once this information gets into the mainstream, he'll be doing many guest appearances on various shows, i.e., Oprah, Larry King, Jay Leno, Jerry Springer, etc....

I just hope that all the inevitable notariety doesn't go to his head, and I hope he remembers us "little people" when he's accepting his Nobel Prize.

Felicitaciones Circus!

Mucho Gusto

Word on the Street:

Word reaches us that as part of the celebratation honoring the esteemed Circus, a giant "pinata" filled with "stool softener" will be shattered by the great man himself while the assembled CRT crowd toasts him with vodka minis.

Award later rescinded after constant complaints of CEO Circus and assorted guests "Browning" the park where CCI is currently located. Reached for comment CEO Circus stated "Hell that crap is biodegradable too". In response to the Circus reply Costa Rica's head of the EPA stated our tests showed that the unidentified substance was not biodegradable and in fact quite toxic.

Papi,

I understand that the two minutes includes 90 seconds of silence in recognition of all who came before him.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Dumplings stuffed with cardboard scandal

The Beijing Industry and Commerce Bureau had uncovered an unlicensed snack vendor selling steamed dumplings with traditional pork filling padded out with cardboard husks, the Beijing News said on Thursday, citing an investigative report by state-owned China Central Television.

Officials suspect recent diplomatic and trade ties with Costa Rica may have resulted in lax oversight of imported food products and allowed for products clearly intended for landfill to enter food chain.

Forged import papers covered original shipping destination - Pits of Jax. Officials still unable to explain makeup of stains on cardboard food products.

This prestigious award, so richly deserved by our beloved Circus is yet another reason why I am so proud to be affiliated with CRT. :D

I knew from its earliest inception that CCI was an innovative concept whose time had come. I am most gratified to read that President Arias and I are finally on the same page about something.

Kudos to Circus and his environmentally-friendly, recyclable Cardboard Inns. Salute!

YO Awards:

Old Circus graciously accepts this award. Kudos to the the CR government and the senors, senores responsible.

BUT !!!!!

There damn sure better be some cash with this award. Trophies, certificates and statuettes only collect dust. Yeah, I'm into helping the environment but in order to further introduce my suites in the parks I need dinero. Old Circus is capitalist first.....environment second. Last time I went enviromental I suggested to the SJ authorities that they should introduce blueberries to the pigeons in order to keep them from continuously shitting on people in the park and streets. Did it stop pigeon diarrhea...Hell no but it did add some color to the bricks on Avenue Central. I've got that going for me.

To make matters worse, seems like my "crack staff" has emptied the coffers lately to, how can I say it, maintain their self esteem. That's why I need the dinero to keep my park suites afloat.

Again, I graciously accept this award that will be presented in September.....just show me the dinero.

Peace to all mankind......yeah, right.

BEIJING - A freelance reporter for a Beijing television station has been detained for faking a hidden camera report about street vendors who used chemical-soaked cardboard to fill meat buns, local media said.

"He used deceptive means to get the footage on the air," said news anchor Wang Ye, without giving specifics. "The Beijing Public Security Bureau has taken the criminal suspect, Zi, into custody and he will be severely dealt with according to law."

Zi's footage appeared to show a makeshift kitchen where fluffy buns were stuffed with 60 percent cardboard that had been softened in a bath of caustic soda and 40 percent fatty pork.

The newscaster said the station was "profoundly sorry" for the fake report and its "vile impact on society."

However, no apologies were made for references to imported cardboard waste products from Costa Rica, which has recently established diplomatic and trade ties with China. Said cardboard waste products apparently have been declared toxic waste and were detoured from original destination port "The Pits of Jax" when rejected by US authorities for entry.

"These cardboard waste products are the result of obviously hideous endevours and will never be allowed into our pristine environment", said Chinese environmental authorities.

Investigations continue into producer of said waste products that have been mixed with an amount of small (really small), stained napkins.

The Travel Channel

Fri. July 20, 2007

SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA – After much anticipation over the recent events leading to the awards presented to Circus Cardboard Inn’s (CCI) from the Greens Americas (GA) The Travel Channel has lead an investigation into what all the green hype is about. Our crews and host made a special trip to check out the resort.

Upon arrival to San Jose, the crew gained travel to the resort by means of a local taxi service. We were setback when we told the driver that our destination was CCI of which the driver responded, “What day is this?” Apparently the CCI is somewhat mobile depending on local regulations or weather conditions (A kind of odd, even parking thing). We began to question about whether or not we would have proper Wi-Fi access. But never less, we moved on to check into the resort.

Upon arrival to CCI, we were pleasantly intrigued with some of the amenities provided within the resort. Each room was a uniquely shaped cardboard box each of which seemed to have its own theme. Some of the names were familiar to member of our crew, given the fact that they had formally traveled to San Jose and stayed at an establishment well known as the Sportsmen’s Lodge.

One cardboard box was named the El Rey. There was one window with blinds that went all the way down, but only half the window was covered. Knowing that this promoted the use of sunlight rather than electric lights, we were all intrigued by the innovation of the design. It was brilliant genius to come up with this energy savings concept. And given the fact that the room was a box, the room could be turned to allow the most sun in for the particular time of day. BRILLIANCE!!

The bed was a perfectly inflated air mattress. By morning the air had run out of the bed, but one of our crew pointed out that the purpose of the air leaving the mattress was proper air circulation within the room. The upper level thinking moved us all. You use electricity to inflate the mattress, but then use gravity to deflate and circulate air in the room throughout the night. UNCANNY!!!

The resort advertised that all rooms came with refrigerator units. We found that they cleverly provided Coleman Playmate coolers with a single tray of ice. Our cameraman found this odd, but with keeping with the green theme, it made perfect sense. Why waste water and energy to chill water? Besides, every hotel in the States has a sign, which states that you are not to fill coolers with ice. So this was a great additional attribute to the room.

We decided that later in the afternoon we would head over to the bar for an afternoon drink. None of us was real sure where it was, but was all found that it was a place that did not need directions to get to. Like breadcrumbs through a forest, we simply followed the trail of empty baby vodka bottles straight to our destination. Lucky for us, the owner was in town and he was more than willing to literally throw us a few bottles after we asked him repeatedly to share. A plus in our books!! That is what we call “Happy Hour”.

The last thing we wanted to see was the beloved and coveted Penthouse Suite. This cardboard box was not like the rest, and was located in a secluded area of the park. This box was huge! It was a former box from a GE side-by-side fridge with a Maytag washer box attachment. This room advertised to have a Jacuzzi and boy did they come through. Just alongside the Maytag box was an uncovered and unprotected sun deck with an open fountain, which looked out onto the rest of the park. This was pure heaven. The only complaint that we had was that every time that we came out of the water, we had coins stuck in the crack of our ass. It was like pennies from heaven, but it was something to get used to.

As the day drew to a close, we became slightly concerned about our security given our location in the public. Our host assured us that the locals don’t bother the guests often and that if we kept the mindset of the covered wagons surrounding the camp to protect the group from the Indians, then there would not be a problem at all.

I can honestly say that I have not slept that well in a long time. That is, until the air ran out of the mattress. The green theme was completely there. The only time that the fresh air became a problem was in the mornings when the busses started running past the park. Other than that, the CCI comes with our highest recommendations. Look for our documentary on The Travel Channel in the fall of 2007.

It will be narrated by Al Gore.

will the proprietor and staff accept said coins as remuneration for services rendered?

YO LT:

Nice report. Old Circus could not have written it better himself. Your propina is in the mail.

Nice to know the Inns were going along smoothly since I'm currently not there to inspect. Although we have only a limited number of suites at this time, my "crack" staff is working on new locations.

As for suite names, we are just begining to explore this avenue and shall attenpt to give each suite their own identity. We did have one called the "Paco n' Heat" suite over in San Ramon but after several incidents of too many chicas in a suite and policia raids....we had to remove the suite from the park. It is still in discussion with my staff if we will re-use that name for a future suite. Personally, it has an unsultry ring to it and may just be too vile for the clientele we seek.

Again, thanks for the report. I will arrange for a future suite discount placed in your name.

Circus, CEO CCI

Being that " Ole Circus " is now award winning.....may we safely assume that we will not be accosted in the street by free lancers giving out business cards in hope of getting a referal commission?
