NAFTA and the free trade with China, India, Russia have proven to be a bad deal for Americans (jobs, health-care, security, etc.); the same will happen with CAFTA - I hope the people in CR and other contries will wake up and will vote it down. But there are always Politician (crooks).

nafta is far from perfect, but the net effect of it has been very very good for americans.
real wealth in america is much higher than it was before nafta. unemployment is low in america, taxes are lower and yet the government is collecting record amounts in income tax -- this is the result of a strong economy.
not all things are good right now and certainly not for everyone, but protectionism is opium for fools. it helps a few in a few positions but hurts the economy as a whole and makes a nation's well being completely dependant on domestic production and international price stability (which by definition a protected economy will work against).
do you really want all of america to be like western new york or michigan and simply hoping the windfall of unionized jobs at unsustainable cost to employers will offset higher unemployment and a lack of inovation?
the problem with nafta and other such agreements is that they are not pro consumer enough and don't go far enough to make the economy more free.
