Its so bizarre how some guys (even a few veterans) are in novio-style relationships with prostitutes and so-called retired prostitutes. I may have been under some form of dumb illusion in my first 6 months of visits to CR, but not long after, I figured out their game. Two years into the game, I could not fathom dating a prostitute.

Besides, all you need are SOME BALLS and a little game, and you can easily pickup a non-prostitute outside of the SJ area. Find a non-hooker in CR and you will have another set challenges, albeit, much less challenging.

Fairly recently, I talked to a tourist who claimed he had a novia for about a month. Yep - he met her at the SL, but she never asks for money. He told me that they were in love and were planning to move into a place together in CR. I scratched my head, bit my lip, and remained silent. This is because several days before, I saw her chain-banging a group of guys "openly" and "loudly" in one of the front rooms of the SL. In fact, she was even trying to drag me into the room, for old time's sake. This is because last fall, I gave-in, and sessioned with her for $60. She didn't ask for money from me either. I gave it to her to get her out of my apartment, because she was unbelievably annoying.

Guys - its a business transaction and they have the pu*sy and the advantage.

in one way I agree, and in another I disagree...

having a "novia" style relationship lends itself to several benefits... This is true, as long as you don't let it upset your home life in the US. Once this "novia" relationship starts to spill into your "real world" time, it's time to end it.

I have had several "while I'm in CR (or whatever country)" novias, and it means great sex, with a your girl, always, constantly, and often a free place to stay, and meals, as well as accessibility to the local activities that you wouldn't normally see.

HOWEVER, when I go home, it's over. Sure I'll call, and keep the idea of me going back and re-noviaing with her, but one has to realize that (unless you truly are living there, and not just spending an inordinate amount of time there) that your real life is in the US.

Now, if things were to change, and I were to move down there, I am quite sure that I would find someone OTHER than a pro to shack up with...

You're right, it's not that hard to find someone... Although some of those pros are so damned gorgeous, AND they give it up with little or no work...

I'm lazy that way...

What you are referring to is "amante" not "novia". This is lover for the moment, or day, or whatever length of time you and her want it to be. This is EXACTLY what the working girls refer to with respect to gringos. We need to understand their culture, because when we operate using the norms of our culture, all sorts of things can go wrong.

In this case, I absolutely agree with you. Amante sex is better than pure business, mechanical sex. And, it can happen frequently, if you keep your head about you.

The problem comes when you begin transforming from Amante status to novia status. As GR and a few others have mentioned. A novia is a long term monogamous commitment that is completely beyond the realms of P4P.

As I've stated before, working girls (HDR, SL, massage parlor gals, strippers and part-timers) aren't really looking for a novio. Most of these girls already have a novio and/or husband in their own neighborhood. If you get to know them and ask, they'll come out and tell you. You'd be surprised how many girls are happily or semi-happily married.

They are looking for an amante.
