I was a the DL last night, I posted elsewhere that there was an immigration raid there Friday night and a 100 women were hauled off, including 10 teenagers with fake ID. It looks like they are taking steps, at least cosmetic, to clean up the area down there.
Don't get me wrong, there are some hazards to going into the gulch. However with by taking some simple percussions and using some common sense you can have an incredible experience.
The woman available in Manuel Antonio//Quepos are of low quality. The situation in Guanacastle is marginally better in terms of quality and much more expensive.
If you are coming to Costa Rica for the action, you simply can not miss the DL.
For adventure activies there are many great options on the coast. As many others here have suggested, it is worthwhile to import your women with you, rather than pick them up out in the coastal regions.
And for God sake, no matter where you go, be sure and wrap the package.
