It is not that complicated. There are some facts that are on your side:
1-The only thing she can do is to put the paternity demand on the c*ildhood court, but since you are not CR citizen, they can not do too much with the demand (especially if you are US citizen)
2-She can not ask the migration authorities to hold your passport, neither the court, without the DNA test.
3- Migration systems are not bonded to the court system in these cases, so, Migration will never know that there is a demand against you here in Costa Rica, unless you tell them
4- This is a process that can take years in the costarican legal system.
5- It is very unlikely you can get in troubles with a demand like this, from a hooker.

So, you don't have to worry that much, unless you really think the k*d is yours and want to take care of him. It is very unlikely for you to have legal troubles, but of course, if you ask a lawyer, especially a CR one, they will tell you you are f*cked and that the only way to get out of this is if you hire him to "help" you (meaning a lot of $$)

My lawyer in Costa Rica was not what I expected from a lawyer. His service was invaluable to me and the relationship we developed went further than just "a hired lawyer." He gave me great advice and treated me like I was family. He invited me to his home for dinner and coffee on my next trip.

He charged me $200 for two months services. I will retain him as my lawyer for future needs, hopefully won't have seek his services anytime soon. At least not for "knocking up a crazy Tica." If you know what I mean. Highly recommended. Speaks English.

Both of these men took the time to talk to me about life, love and the crazy Ticas so many of us gringos fall in love with. It's funny how we are enamored by some of these chicas but all the Ticos will tell you how problematic they are to deal with.

Both men also mentioned how common it is for chicas to cry "wolf" regarding being pregnant.

Your situation is different and would not know what he would charge for trying to locate a norte-americano.

He charged me $200 a week, but he initially quoted me $700 a week. Everthing is negotiable in Costa Rica.

Ive been through the paternity thing hear in the US, dna, Ch*ld support recovery, Ch*ldren and family services, lawyers, private investigators. If your a man, get ready to pay. If your a women that lose your Ch*ldren because you are unfit, dont worry, they wont do shit. My K*ds mom is living and working 5 miles from the Ch*ld support recovery office, has 2 court orders to pay support. A whomping 35 dollars a week. she has never paid a dime. This is a girl I left a bar with 1 time, so it does happen. After reading this thread, I went and got a vasectomy, AGAIN!
