I heard there were a lot of people taken away Friday night. And the story I heard was that there were a lot of gringos. Didn't hear any followup, so I'm assuming it was a routine immigration check. Odd to happen at this time of year, when it is so slow in town.

Might be part of the announced push against prostitution in Jaco. Can't arrest anyone for doing that, but you can check people for being illegal aliens and having passports.

They were probably looking for crew members from the submarine they captured off the Nicoyan Peninsula.

Third World, when you say "alot of gringos" do you mean gringos were taken away also or were present when the raids occurred?

They hit the Monkey Bar too. I heard there were a lot of gringos on the bus. I'm always in bed way before this so have no first hand knowledge.

Just recieved another call from Jaco and was told immigration is still checking papers as of today .Any of you gringos headed to Jaco would be wise to keep a copy of your passport with photo and stamp. Do not know if it is true but heard the Beattle Bar was sold (how would you like to be the proud new owner right now)

When making a copy of your passport do it in color and do the date of your entrance They are more interested that your not overstaying your 90 day visa

Just across the street and up ten meters from the Presidente is a place that will do it and make it the size of a business card to carry in your wallet sealed in plastic for about a dollar

I was told that the Imigration police also took the Beatle Bar manager (Brian) away and the girls have not seen him back in the bar since.

Yes Brian is in detention because what I was told he had false papers. When I was there a few weeks ago Brian told me I to pay my tab of about 60.00 dollars so I hand him a 100.00 bill and he tells me it is no good , so I tell him thats all I have on me and he say PAY UP NOW .Ok no problem send one of your employees with me to the Copa and I will get him a 100.00 bill in which he likes the sertial #s.He again says no pay up now , well buddy IF i could shit 100.00 bills no problem, a tica friend took it to her house and changed it for me.You would think if a U.S.A. bank issuedit to me a shit hole like the Beattle Bar would take it ,well about now he probably wishes he had all the 100.00 bills he could get his hands on (serial #s he likes or not)

Interesting. And I would think deportation would come next if immigration catches you working with false papers.

Houtexman $100.00 dollor bills with serial # starting with letters CB have been widely counterfited in central America. Most banks will not except them. Next time tell your bank in states no CB cein notes.

Previous thread recommended using fifty's in cr. Worked well in both amount of cash carried and paying chicas.
