When I was in CR a couple weeks ago a fellow American was telling me about this dating service in CR where they had books of ladies and setup dates with local ladies for a $10 fee. I didn't get to talk to him after to see how his date turned out.

Does anyone know more about this? Also what about online services. Many of them want these huge fees for an e-mail address.

I would really like to meet a nice CR lady or Columbian lady and bring her here. They make great lovers and don't mind if your a bit older.

Thanks

He was probably referring to either Spanish Eyes Costarica or MyTica. Wouldn't put to much faith in finding a quality women in either of these places. If you are dead set on finding a wife in a Latin American country my best advice is to invest a good deal of time and energy into learning to speak spanish well. Learning to dance latin style dances, and then spending your time in places far removed from P4P areas. Your not going to meet wife material in red light districts. Colombia is a great option for women, but if you do not speak the language well you already have a strike against you. Of course, you also have issues with security and safety in that country. Lastly, don't go rushing into anything. There are cultural, educational, language, and other economic barriers to marrying a foreigner. There is always the possibility they will change into a typical "gringa" upon arriving in this country. Although, many men in our armed forces marry women from all over the world and bring them back to the states, have been doing it for years, and are very happily married. Try amigos.com
Good luck.

You might try A Foreign Affair. http://Costa-Rica-Women.com

I had a former neighbor who was very happy with their selection. I think he said they charged $25.00 per introduction and he made a deal for $100.00 up front and 5 introductions. I have never used the service so can not give you any first hand feedback.

As far as bringing anyone to the states do a search on that. Has been discussed many times here and there is a lot of info on the subject. Most of these services offer a fiancée visa package, at a price of course, but do not know their success rate.

Good Luck :)

Yep, like you see a lot of Colombianas or Ticas here with husbands who are a bit older!
If by a bit older you mean like 5 years difference, then you're right.
By the way, don't be surprised if once she gets the green card, she leaves you for a bit younger guy!
If you want to marry a Latin woman, don't bring her here, but go and live with her in her country.

Several Ticas I know mentioned to me that they were invited to Hotel Castillo to meet Gringos that were interested in marriage. They said they've gone a few times with no luck finding a man they liked and could seem themselves being married to. Interesting that they just didn't hook up with just any Gringo. This Tica told me she was nervous the first time she went to one of the parties. She mentioned she tried hiding from a couple of Gringo who where interested in her, but she wasn't.

Also wanted to mention that a lot of Ticas I met have no desire to move to the US. They would like to visit but that's about it. While flirting with several different chicas I mentioned that I wanted to get married and have K*ds, with them, and they said as long as I moved to Costa Rica it would be possible. I guess not all chicas are looking for a green card, they just want what every woman wants "security" in their life. There's nothing wrong with that.

Pura Vida!!!

I have been surprised that in numerous conversations I have had with Ticas, that many have expressed no desire to relocate to the US. Surprising to me considering the number of immigrants who enter our country daily. I guess this gives the false impression that everbody wants to live here. I had one Tica tell me, "I would love to come to America to go shopping, but would not want to live there". Costa Rica is a beautiful country, and the life style is more laid back, and old fashioned.
I suppose many are quite content with their lives despite the hardships they face.

Ticos/Ticas are very family oriented. The family unit is much stronger than in the US particularly among Ticas. The thought of leaving the family and living in a foreign country is not something most would consider.

That position could easily change once they spent some time in the states. A tica who lives in my town told me that she was scared to come here at first , but after about a month she was determined to stay. These girls have no idea how they would feel after getting a taste of life in the states. I believe most would want to stay. ... No different than me. I had no desire to come to CR until I found out about the p4p scene. Now I wish I could stay.

I think Shawn and ID are both partially right, but also partially wrong. The importance of family ties are important to ticas but I'm not so sure they're any more important to them than they are to many latinas in other countries. IMHO, there is much more to it than that. What I think really differentiates CR from its latin neighbors is that, for far more of its citizens, life is not so bad for them that they'd so easily give up those family ties for a "better" life in the US. Of course, that may be changing as the economy declines, CR's vaunted social safety net frays and crime increases. But life is still much better in CR than it is in neighboring countries like Colombia and Nicaragua, which are variously violent or economically depressed. Thats why you see so many more Colombianas and Nicas coming to the US than ticas but it is also why they migrate to CR as well.

As for what shawn describes, I'm sure he has run into a tica with a tale like that but I'm not so sure how representative that is. Perhaps it has something to do with which social class she comes out of and what her family background was like in CR. Maybe she really didn't have as much to give up by coming to the US or that much to go back to. And the fact that so many of us would want to leave the US for CR (beyond just the base appeal of cheap P4P) is all the more argument to support why ticas themselves want to stay in their own country.

My own spin on this issue is that if you want to find a latina for bringing back to the US your best odds are to look for nationalities OTHER than ticas. Just bear in mind that if and when she learns english and starts mixing with gringas, you'll probably wind up a wife that combines all the worst qualities of both types of women. OTOH, if you want to relocate to CR anyway then ticas have some endearing qualities that might make them good candidates (not the least of which is that there are so many of them in CR ) But even there your best bet might be to find some other nationality like a colombiana that is already living there. This way you may have the best of all worlds - a latina wife that stays a latina and life in a tropical paradise. YMMV

I always find it funny that the Ticas are trying to find ways to get to the States and the Gringos are trying to find ways to get here to CR. Just think of the consequences if everyone got his or her wish. CR would be made up of millions of Gringos unable to get laid, and the US would be overun with horny Ticas.
