I'll be spending a few days in Jaco coming up on the 31st of May to June 1 and was wondering about ATMs there. Easily found? Any concerns? Obviously, I'd rather not carry a ton of cash with me down from SJ.

Thanks,
Keroseneflat

All the banks have them, Mas o Menos has one. I don't know what the difference is, but some machines take one card and not the other--and sometimes they are down for a bit or out of money for awhile. Overall, there is usually not a problem. I never carry much cash and go to the ATM everyday, always in the day and very rarely at night. One of my favorites is the bank on the second floor of the Galleone building--never crowded and no one sees you grabbing cash everyday.

Big new pink building in about the center of town, across the street from Wishbone's restaurant

I think there is still a bank upstairs from Nacho Daddys. There is another small one further south on the ocean side of the road. Cant remember the name of it , but neither of these places is ever crowded. The main bank in town is a pain in the ass...usually a long wait.

It's been over a year since I went to Jaco but at the time the ATMs at the banks would not take my debit card. I used the ATM at the Mas X Menos supermarket with no problem.
